The Life of Amantius was used by Florus of Lyon in his Martyrology, so was in existence by c. 825 (Prévot, 1989, 42), but it is very uncertain how much earlier than that it is. It was dated to the 7th century by Riché 1962, 414, but to the 8th century or later by Krusch (Krusch 1885, xxi), to the 8th or 9th c. by PCBE 4 ('Amantius 3'), and to the 9th century by Duchesne, Fastes II, 40.
