Greek inscription marking a church (oikos) of Sergios (soldier and martyr of Rusafa, S00023) and invoking his help for unnamed emperors. Found at Ḥamāh/Amathe (central Syria). Probably the 6th c.

Stone slab, reused in a wall. Inscription in low-relief. Some letters are inverted, the order of lines is also unusual. The text should be read apparently from the last line.



Discussion

Mouterde plausibly noted that this inscription implied the existence of a church dedicated to Sergios in Ḥamāh/Amathe.
