Source

Stone lintel, found c. 400 m to the west of the village. There is no published description.

Recorded and copied by Albert Gobril. The existence of his copy was twice communicated to René Mouterde: first in 1928 by Léonce Brossé and in then in 1933 by Maurice Chéhab. First published in 1959 by Mouterde, with a drawing.

Discussion

Mouterde suggests that the inscription commemorated the construction of a church or chapel dedicated to Stephen the First Martyr.

Dating: the date is given in line 1 as the year 855 of the Seleucid era, which corresponds to AD 573/574. If the month of November is really mentioned in line, the exact date must be November 573.
