The text stems from transcriptions made by Herbert Thompson of papyrus fragments from the bookbinding cartonnage of parchment codices Or. 7023, 7024, 7025 and 7029 in the British Library in London, dated between AD 981 and 1004.These earlier papyrus fragments of formerly discarded papyrus codices themselves seem to now be lost.
