E04871The 6th/7th c. recension of the Latin Martyrologium Hieronymianum, as transmitted in 8th c. manuscripts, records the feasts of a number of saints on 4 July.
E05830The Latin Martyrdom of *Serenus (gardener and martyr of Sirmium, S01882), dating from the 4th century or later, recounts the accusation, court proceedings and execution in Sirmium (Pannonia, Middle Danube) of a Christian under the Emperor Maximian (Herculius, r. 286-305 or Galerius, r. 293-311). The text survives in two independent recensions, a longer and a shorter one, both presumably written in Sirmium.
E06682Two late 4th or early 5th century Latin funerary inscriptions from Sirmium (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia) mention burials at the shrine of *Syneros (martyr of Sirmium, S01882). They are probably related to an extramural building, excavated in the 19th century, which has been interpreted as the basilica of the martyr.
