E07082The Greek Life of *Aberkios (bishop of Hierapolis, S02695) recounts the story of a bishop who supposedly converted Hierapolis in the 2nd century; it describes his miracles, including the exorcism of the emperor’s daughter in Rome, and missionary journeys in Syria, Cilicia, and Mesopotamia, for which he was styled Isapostolos, ‘equal to the Apostles’; he died peacefully and was buried in a tomb with an inscription. Written in Hierapolis of Phrygia (west central Asia Minor) in the late 4th or 5th century.
