This is a letter from Epiphanios to his mother concerning a key for Apa Symeon of which a duplicate is asked to be produced to fit his door. The key is to be given to someone who works for the steward of (the church/monastery of) Apa John.

Lines 3–6 read as follows:

] ⲝⲟⲩⲣ ⲛⲁⲡⲁ ⲥⲩ[ⲙⲉⲱ]ⲛ ⲉⲧϣⲟϭⲉ ⲉⲡⲉϥⲣⲟ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲁⲁϥ ⲛⲡⲥⲁϩ ⲁⲃⲣⲁϩⲁⲙ ⲉⲡⲟⲓⲕⲟⲛⲟⲙⲟⲥ ⲛⲁⲡⲁ ⲱϩⲁⲛⲛⲏⲥ

'] a key for Apa Symeon that is fitted to his door, and give it to the master/scribe Abraham for the steward of (the church of) Apa John.'

This ostracon was found in Cell A of the monastery of Epiphanius and is housed at the Cairo Museum, inv. 46304.41. The text has been dated on palaeographical grounds.
