E02717Gregory of Tours, in his Glory of the Confessors (84), tells of the bed of *Silvester (bishop of Chalon-sur-Saône, ob. early 6th c., S01298), placed in the sanctuary of the cathedral of Chalon (eastern Gaul); the sick are cured when placed under it, and pieces of it taken away also cure people; Gregory's mother ended the fever of a young girl with such a piece. Written in Latin in Tours (north-west Gaul), 587/588.
