In response to a divine command, he leaves his see, travels to Gaul, and settles at Autun, visiting the shrine of *Symphorianus (martyr of Autun, S00322). He assists *Simplicius (bishop of Autun, mid 4th c., S01292) and then succeeds him as bishop and serves for twenty years. After his death, his grave is visited by *Germanus (bishop of Auxerre, ob. c. 448, S00455). Written in Gaul, probably Autun, between c. 600 and c. 850. |
